We use anti-virus software to protect all college computers. It is automatically updated. When you open, load or create files on college computers, the software will scan them automatically. If you have a virus on your disk, the anti-virus software will format the disk, causing the loss of all saved data.
If you send work to staff electronically (email attachments, floppy disks or through Moodle), you must make sure that the work has been scanned for viruses using up-to-date scanning software.
If you deliberately introduce a virus or other malicious software into College computers or systems, we will treat it as a disciplinary offence.
You should install reputable, up-to-date anti-virus software on your own PC. Ask about anti-virus software in the Library.
Before you use any floppy disks that have files on them, scan them.
Do not open email attachments without having up-to-date anti-virus software installed on your computer - even email attachments from friends might contain a virus.
Do not submit any work, or open any documents, done on a computer that does not have anti-virus software.
