Library Facilities available for students at
Staffordshire University Lichfield Centre

Staffordshire University, Lichfield Centre (SULC) and Tamworth and Lichfield Colleges have entered into a unique partnership with Staffordshire Libraries and Information Service to provide access to students for paper based and other materials in support of a variety of courses delivered on the Lichfield Campus.

This service is provided during library opening hours* through Lichfield Public Library which is conveniently situated on the Friary campus in close proximity to SULC.

The Public Library is fast becoming a ‘first port of call’ for all students studying at SULC because it supports the University Centre by:

v     Being home to many textbooks which are prescribed  reading for SULC courses – from Travel and Tourism, to Business and Management, Health and Social Care to Art and Design (amongst others).  All are available on shortened loan to students.

v     Holding a collection of quality newspapers and access to a searchable online database of  back-copies

v     Enabling access to both TALIS: Staffordshire Libraries’ County catalogue and iPAC: Staffordshire University’s catalogue of holdings – this includes a searchable database of materials held at other public libraries across Staffordshire as well as the University database of holdings in the main campus libraries: Thompson at Stoke and Nelson at Stafford .  Both databases have the facility for online request and renewal of items.

v     Provision of  the services of the County Library’s inter-library loan network and the British Library’s Book and Documentary Delivery system

v     The benefit of a special delivery arrangement whereby books ordered online from other Staffordshire University campus libraries can be collected directly from Lichfield Public Library

v     Access to Lichfield Public library’s general collection of fiction and non-fiction materials and hire of its video talking book, C.D. Rom and DVD collection

v     Free use of  the Internet, Microsoft Works software and e-mail facilities during library opening times (printing and floppies available for a small charge)

v     Provision of a quiet study space just a short walk away from the hustle and bustle of the University Centre

v     The assistance of  knowledgeable and friendly library Staff

v     An Art gallery
